Green Spaces

From the 23rd August we have been running a children’s book hunt and a tree walk.

From the 7th June for 3 weeks we invited people to come and enjoy the green space that is our large churchyard. It is has numerous ancient trees, lots of wildlife and interesting headstones.

We are very grateful to the Community Pay Back teams for all the work they have done tidying up the churchyard.

We put up displays about what you might see and to encourage people to see what they can spot.

On the 12th June we invited families to come and see what they could spot and lent out binoculars and digital cameras to the children to encourage them to look closer and record what they saw.

We also took the opportunity to highlight our 16 Commonwealth War Graves by adding additional information such as where in the village they lived.

We displayed pictures of the 79 carved faces that can be seen around the outside of the church.

We are pleased to say that lots of people took the opportunity to visit and look round the churchyard and we intend to repeat the invite during the summer school holidays.
